Cross-Border Contract Disputes

The supplier shipped late, the buyer refused the goods, the distributor stopped paying, the licensee kept selling after termination. Cross-border contract disputes are about facts first—who did what, when, and what the documents say—and about leverage second. We help you establish both before deciding how hard to push.

HOW WE HELP

What we look at first

01

Claims and defenses

Breach, damages, excuse, notice requirements and limitation periods under the governing law—including the pre-dispute steps the contract may require before anyone can sue.

02

The record

Emails, chat logs, purchase orders, inspection reports, shipping documents and the amendments that were agreed informally. We assemble the timeline and tell you where it is strong and where it is not.

03

Leverage and resolution

Sometimes the strongest move is a precise demand letter with the evidence attached; sometimes it is withholding performance, calling a guarantee or filing for interim relief. The choice depends on the contract and the counterparty.

04

Proceedings when needed

Arbitration or litigation in the agreed forum, with the enforcement question answered before filing rather than after.

OUR APPROACH

How the matter proceeds

01

Reconstruct

Build the transaction timeline from the documents.

02

Analyze

Assess the claims, the forum and the prospects of actually collecting.

03

Act

Send the demand, negotiate, or start proceedings within the agreed scope.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Common questions

Practical answers to frequently asked questions. Individual circumstances can affect the best course of action.

Should I send a demand letter first?+
Usually, but not always. Some contracts require notice and a cure period; some situations call for interim relief before the other side is alerted. Read the contract first.
Which country's law governs our contract?+
What the contract says, if it says anything; otherwise the conflict-of-laws rules of the forum decide. Contracts without a governing-law clause are where disputes get expensive.
The other side is ignoring us. What now?+
Silence is information. We assess whether the counterparty still operates, where its assets are and whether a formal step—arbitration notice, lawsuit, platform complaint—changes the calculation.
